Some people think that it is better for young people to select a career in the field which is the same as their parents. However, in my opinion, people who are seeking for their jobs should choose a different job from their parents. This is because it is possible for parents to not be satisfied with their career, and it limits the possibilities of young people to challenge different field. To begin with, parents may not want their children to go through the same bad experience of their job. Not all people enjoy working in their own field. People experience not only advantages of their job, but also disadvantages of their career. In this case, young people have no reason to choose the same job with their parents as they see how their parents feel bad about their job. For example, I dreamed of becoming a business consultant same as my father. However, my father explained me a lot about difficulties of the job. He told me that many people in the field work with the feeling of nervous because the longevity of the career is not guaranteed. He also told me that not every business consultant can make enormous profit while working. Since I was available to specific details of the career as having a conversation with my father, I made a decision to have different job with my father after I graduate the college. On top of that, selecting the same job with their parents shortens the variety of spectrum of career that young people can consider. Even though there are many possibilities for people before they finally choose what they are going to live for, it refrains young people from experiencing various kind of experiences if they are forced to have same job or assume that they will work in same field with their parents. For instance, my friend was forced to prepare becoming a lawyer because her parents were both working as attorneys. As her parents want her to become a lawyer, she worked hard to attend a law school instead of taking part in many kinds of experiences for seeking other jobs. As a result, she succeeded in becoming a law school student, but she still has sad feeling about her short experience while attending in college. She did not have a chance to test herself in various areas that could be possible if she did not set her plan for preparing a law school. Moreover, she does not have a certain feeling that a lawyer is her dream job because she did not choose to become an attorney by herself. To sum up, it is possible that parents do not want their children to choose the same career as themselves, and even though they do, it could make their children lack of various experiences while seeking for other areas to work in. In this regard, I strongly believe that young people should not select the same job with their parents. |
