These days, there are a lot of debates about the method of the best education. Some say that when students focus on learning facts, they can understand the ideas naturally. In my opinion, however, it is exactly the other way around. When students make sure the fundamental factors, they can learn others more easily than focusing on learning facts. To begin with, understanding ideas leads to the improvement of students' independence. My personal experience can be a good example of this. when I was in elementary school, I was not a smart student. It means, I felt really hard learning (ing) new things and always got bad scores. Fortunately, one of my teachers in my school was so kind and patient that she always got her efforts to make me understand the foundation of what I should learn. Thanks to her, not only did my scores at that time improve, but my ability to understand overall in the whole of my life also upgraded a lot. This is because I learned how to get new information independently. If she had approached by teaching just facts, I even would not take this TOEFL exam which is hard. Next, (대소문자 구분) focusing only on facts can make students too conservative. Two (아라비아 숫자 사용을 지양해주세요) years ago, I took the class how to use some mechanical tools for video editing at my university. The professor only focused on teaching the facts about the tools and students also concentrated to learn the facts. However, he gave some alternative questions in the last exam. Nobody caught the answer to those questions because they studied only the factors surfaced on the books, not understanding the basic information. For the reasons I mentioned above, I strongly agree that the more important factor for students is how to make sure the ideas and concepts than learning facts. |
