I agree with the statement that citizens should not pay public
transportation fees. There are three reasons for this. Making the public
transportation fees free can have welfare advantages, be more user-friendly,
and have environmental benefits.
First of all, it has welfare benefits. The public transportation is
meant to be for all citizens, however, because of the cost, some poor people
still do not have the chance to ride it. These are the homeless, or the ones
who work each day to buy food for the next day. If public transportations were to
become free, everyone would be welcome to take the bus, the metro, and the tram.
This would lead to a better quality in life overall, for all citizens. We all have
the obligation to think of this society as a whole, and making the public
transportations free can help welfare enhance greatly.
Secondly,
the transportations can become user-friendly if the fees are free. I am sure
that everyone has the experience of forgetting their wallet at home or losing
their credit card. At emergencies like these, it would be very helpful if we could
just get on the public transportation without any payment. Some people may
argue that these are rare situations that don’t occur often, but I strongly
believe that comfortably taking the public transportation in emergent cases like
these are what makes it advantageous not to pay for them.
Lastly,
making the fees free can have a positive effect on the environment. If we do
not have to pay for public transportations, more people will take subways and buses.
This will lead to less cars on the street, and eventually to a eco-friendly
environment. Not only will the public transportations be more effectively used,
since more people will be on them, but they will also make our society a
cleaner place.
In conclusion, I think the benefits of enabling people to take
public transportations without any cost outweigh the drawbacks, and I believe
that we should make them free. |
