It is evident that the demand for natural resources of oil and gas has increased. Some people argue that they should find unexplored areas for fossil fuels. I believe this has more drawbacks than its advantages.
On the one hand, the natural resources such as oil and gas may be depleted soon. People should find the other undeveloped spots for the fossil fuels. There are still unfound natural resources under the ground or ocean in the undeveloped countries. For example, if the developed countries invest gas or oil explorer on mining natural resources, the infrastructure such as transportation and construction will be establishd in undeveloped countries and this will lead to enormous improvement in those areas. Moreover, if the supply of the natural resources increases in global market, the market prices will go down. Then, people can use energy sources with cheaper prices than now.
Nevertheless, others claim that there are many drawbacks in digging down the untouched ground to find the natural resources. Firstly, it will have bad impacts on ecosystem. When people exploit mineral resources, many species will be threatened with habitat destruction. This will result in the damage of ecosystem. Secondly, the more usage of fossil energy sources will bring about various types of pollution and environmental damage. For instance, burning much oil or gas will cause air pollution and the global warming is a result of the heat emission. As a result, exploitation of the undeveloped ground or ocean floor will damage the environment.
In conclusion, exploitation of untouched places for fossil fuel resources has both merits and demerits. However, I believe the demerits outweigh its merits.
