주제: Teenagers nowadays are more drawn to bad behaviors?
To discuss that if teenagers nowadays really are drawn to bad behaviors, it would first be needed to define what is 'bad behaviours'. If the definition can be narrowed to violent behaviors, as the phrase is commonly used, it can be said with certainty, teenagers are more commonly drawn to them. However, if the definition is dealt in broader aspect and embraces all kinds of ethical meanings, it cannot necessarily be seen that teenagers nowadays conduct bad behaviors. In this essay, the both definition will be dealt further with specific examples.
Firstly, as it is aforementioned, teenagers of present time are more likely to act in violent ways, in contrast to the past. It is because they are exposed more to the violent scenes that the media offers, than they did in the past. To be specific, researchers have been pointed out that it has been a worldwide phenomenon that nowadays, children of younger age tend to watch and deal with violent scenes which media provides through various electronic devices. That is, parents now cannot easily control what their children watch, by simply turning off the TV. Thus, kids of nowadays tend to enjoy whatever program they want, and this definetly affects them. The violence which media offers to them from earlier age shapes their minds while they grow up. It is no surprise that crime rates committed in schools are ever increasing. Thus, in a nutshell, it can be said that teenagers nowadays are drawn to bad behaviors, as media influences them in such ways.
However, if the definition of the phrase 'bad behaviors' is interpreted into wider meaning which contains ethical aspects, the claim cannot be defined as right. To regard the claim that teenagers of this generation are drawn to bad behaviors, it should be considered that the standard of ethics vary in a great degree from generation to generation. What is considered as rude or even violent, can now be regarded as liberal or expressive. What seems to be 'bad behaviors' now, even to the public eye, can be right thing for the teenagers. That is, when they grow up, they can form the majority which has same ethical opinion with them. Through generations, people have complained that teenagers conduct bad behaviors even more. It is quite certain that people hear such complaints all time. However, such complaints of does not ascertain the claim that teenagers of this generation are essentially drawn to bad.
Thus, it is proven the claim suggested in the question can be interpreted in both narrower and wider meanings. If the phrase 'bad behaviors' is interpreted in narrower meaning, to the violent behaviors, it can certainly be said that the level of violence between teenagers are ever increasing. However, if the phrases is understood in ethical aspect, it can not necessarily be said that the teenagers are spoiled, as the standard can vary due to the generation gap.
