▶ Your Answer :
Some people argue that reading too many
fairy tale books is waste of time for children. To a certain extent, I agree with the idea
that story books are beneficial for the children, I strongly believe that it
is a waste of time.
On the one hand, reading fairy tale books
is helpful in an educational perspective for the children. As long as the story books
contain many visual materials with lyrical content, the children could stimulate
their right brain more frequently while reading those books. This emotional
indirect stimulation could aid to develop an imagination and creativity, and moreover
not only those emotional effects but also it could help to build visual acuity,
peripheral vision and hand-eye coordination skill. In addition to this, the
young children also could improve reading skill, which is one of the most
important academic ability for their future career success. Similarly, we could
expect that the children could learn how to become a great writer while reading
fairy tale books.
On the other hand, although there are some
benefits of reading story books, I believe that it is totally a waste of time. There
are some clear reasons to support my opinion. In the first place, those academic
skills or psychological advantages mentioned above can be acquired from the
other fields while studying in the school. In the second place,
although fairy tale books help to develop creativity and imagination of
children, it also unconsciously embeds negative ideas such as stereotype, bias
and dichotomy. For instance, there are always heroes who defeat villains,
justice always wins against evils, and handsome man or beautiful woman are
only admired character by the people in the story books. In the last place, while the young kids read the fairy tale books, they may sacrifice their valuable time, which may result
in academic failure.
In conclusion, although there are some
positive facets of reading fairy tale books, I believe it is clearly a waste of
time because of detrimental negatives that the story books could deliver.
