▶ Your Answer : As a result of advances in medical technology, human average life expectancy has gradually increased until now. Although this helps people live longer, it cannot make their life happier. I believe that increased life expectancy have many negative influences on society and citizens. To begin with, life extension is human's dream in the past several centuries. People also want to live healthier and longer without illness. However, incurable diseases still exist. It means those who inherently are vulnerable to disease will continue to live prolonged life but not healthy. They will suffer from sickness until they die. Their family also will exhausted to take care of them and spend much money on hospital cost. In the worst-case scenario, family will be disintegrated. In addition, population structure usually consists of diamond format in most countries. Under the structure, various benefits will be given to elder people because the number of young people who can support them is more than other generation layers. For example, companies that earned a lot of money through working forces created from young people between 20s and 50s pay taxes to their country. And then country uses tax money on social benefits for elder people. If inverted pyramid format occurs, young individuals and companies will oppose to pay much more tax and work hard for them. In this situation, country will undergo financial crisis and severe generation conflict. In conclusion, I think that country should make a long plan to afford financially to support the aging individuals and complimentarily provide health care service with the elders because it is important to live longer with balance health and happy. Lastly, human always should repect and help one another regardless of generation layers for better future than now. |
