In these days, we are all living in the information age. Myriads of information go through our societies and in that, those information greatly affect our daily lives. Meanwhile, some people argue about the news media’s imbalanced source of information, while others say it is still reliable. However, I myself have a strong opinion that mass medias are too much partial and therefore we should distinctively receive the idea. It is because the news meadia exaggerates the fact to catch the attention and also it is unfortunately colored by politics.
To begin with, news medias overstate issues to have people's attention. Since medias' main source of income is people's subscription fee, they look for ways to make people see their news. Hence, unfortunately they make up false facts and exaggerates cases to provoke people's curiosity. A number one sports news company in my country Korea, went bankrupt last month. It was because of a single article that saying a soccer player is going abroad to move to new team, which was totally false story. That soccer player soon made an interview about the false article and also accused the company of telling the lie to the society. Not only for the company's lose of the court struggle but also for the public's turning back at them made big damage causing the financial trouble. This time, this hour, various news medias are making trickeries to people with thinking nothing of those. We should therefore clearly discrimate good informations from those.
Moreover, news medias are controlled by political authorities. Sadly, it is true that news medias which speak bad about the government get penalties 보이지않게(알게모르게). In my country Korea, what we call 'the Media Law' was made in congress. The point of this law was that private company could hold the news media company's stock and therefore the government could control the press through the private company. Inspite of people's concern, the government straightforwardly controlled medias and as a result various TV programs such as disclosing the society's contradictions soon disappeared. Still, there are some 'unseen' powers intervening in every ongoing news. However, the problem is that most of the people do not know how severe the situation is and read the news without any doubts. Like this, the affects of the news media to the public is really powerful and unfortunately certain political authority uses that influence. What do we see here? Many news are colored with politics and try to blind our eyes. Definitely unbiased.
To sum up, sadly, news medias informing people purely happens only in the past. In this highly complicated society based on capitalism, the mass medias make false reports and some 'unseen' powers control the press. So now, who's going to say that the news media is realiable and unbiased? | |
