Playing game is a good way for everyone to refresh their minds. Although the primary purpose of playing games is to relax, the games, however, became poison to people, especially to the young. The rationale behind this is that playing games is a waste of time and energy. Also, games convey the wrong message about life.
First of all, people spend too much time and energy on playing games. As they waste their time and strength, people cannot afford enough personal resources for more productive activities. In this sense, being addict to games can be a social problem. To illustrate this point, when my brother was a high school student, he was fond of playing soccer. As he bestowed too much time and energy on playing soccer and always exhausted after playing it, he could not afford his strength for studying and just rested. As a result, he ended up failing his mid-term exam.
Furthermore, games convey distorted information about life. This is evident when one ponders that when people play games with others, there are always winners and losers. Consequently, games only emphasize on competition and the fact of winning the game. For instance, when people watch sports news, they find that the Medias only focus on the winner of the sports game, not on gracious loser who also struggled. In this respect, games forces people to do anything to be the winner, which leads to bigger social problems.
To sum up, games are useless for everyone, since they are waste of time and energy, and also they convey biased views on life. Although games make players to cooperate, I strongly believe that the problems with playing games far outweigh the advantages they have. |
