▶ Your Answer :
These days there are a lot of television
programs just for entertainment. Some people believe that by watching fun
television shows, they can forget all the problems they have and enjoy better
life. However, I believe that the focus of television should be on education
not on entertainment for two essential reasons.
To
begin with, educational television programs provide a variety of useful information.
People can learn valuable knowledge such as cooking, history, and surviving
method with a plenty of pictures and videos. For example, last month I had a
plan to go on a trip to Japan with my family. However I caught a cold and I
lost good opportunity to go Japan. I was very frustrated nevertheless I saw a
television program about a Japanese expert who travels main cities of Japan.
With an explanation about the history of Japan, I felt like I was traveling
with the expert. In addition, I could learn origin of sushi from the expert for
free.
Secondly,
television shows for education is beneficial for children. Some celebrities use
violence or bad slangs in order to entertain people. Children are easy to
follow it, which can give disadvantages in children’s growth. For example,
according to the research from EBS, it stated that children tend to mimic the
adult’s behaviors. In the experiment there were two groups. A group watched a
violent movie on the other hand B group watched animation about helping other
people. Surprisingly children acted the same way they saw on the television.
Therefore, it is important to settle the purpose of television to education.
To
sum up, educational programs can provide both useful information and moral lessons.
Therefore, I believe that television show directors should provide more educational
shows and focus on it rather than just pursuing entertainment and populace.
