There might be some people who believe that
it is preferable for young people to select a different type of job than their
parents did. However, I personally disagree with the above idea for two
reasons. This is because young people can receive useful advice from their
parents and make use of parents' business contacts.
To begin with, young workers can get
helpful advice from their parents when they share the same career. Parents have
a lot of information and skills about their field gained by their professional
experiences. Thus, they can provide valuable direction to their children. For
example, my friend became an elementary school teacher like her mother
recently. When she started the work, things were very overwhelming at first.
She had a hard time managing her students' unexpected behaviors, and she was
not sure of the best way to solve the problem. However, her mother gave her
useful tips on how to manage her students. They suggested that she sets clear
rules and enforce them consistently, and she implemented the advice right away.
Consequently, she was able to manage her students effectively.
On top of that, young people can utilize
their parents' professional connections when they work in the same field. In
particular, by using their parents' connection, people can build business
partnerships with other companies. It is very useful to improve their field.
Take an example of my father, who have worked in a business like my
grandfather. When he established the
software company, his first noteworthy success was when he worked with Samsung,
that is the biggest corporate in Korea, to develop software of Samsung.
This happened because my grandfather had a professional connection with one of
Samsung's directors. He told the Samsung broad member about my father's
company, and as a result, my father's company could develop a partnership with
Samsung.
In conclusion, young people who pursue the
same career that their parents did can get invaluable guidance from their
parents and benefit from their parents' work-related contacts. In this regard,
I firmly believe that it is advisable for young people to follow in their
parents' career footsteps rather than select a difference occupation for
themselves.
