▶ Your Answer :
Since technology has
developed in our society, the Internet appears and becomes one way to obtain
information. Some people think that the Internet is a proper means to get
useful information. However, I maintain that getting information through the
Internet is problematic. This is because the Internet has a lot of information
so it takes a long time to find what he or she wants to know, and because
inaccurate information could be found in the Internet.
To begin with, it is
difficult for people to find useful information quickly with the Internet.
Since the Internet has significant information pool, when looking for
something, people can find a lot of related information. Therefore, they have
to spend their time to check which one is what they want, and it is such a
waste of time. For example, when I had an assignment from a biology class, I
searched the process of fossil production. Because I was at home which is far
from my university at that time, I used the Internet instead of books from the
library. After I entered the word 'process of fossil generation', I saw such much
information. However, almost things were just personal comments from individual
users, which are definitely specialists in the subject. I spent at least 3
hours to get information what I wanted, but I could not figure out. If I try to
find the information in the library, it could not take such time because I just
need to check only two things: the book lists of the library and the content of
a book.
On top of that,
information from the Internet could be wrong. Actually, it is not possible for
employees of web search engine companies such as Google to confirm that all
information on the Internet is true. Also, people can freely upload
information. In this sense, the Internet can mislead some users. For instance,
I planned to hold a party last month. Since I always have desired to bake a
chocolate cookie, I decided to try it. After finding the recipe of the cookie,
I successfully baked my own chocolate cookies. However, I realized something
wrong with the cookies because they were too salty. After that, I referred the
baking book, and finally succeeded to bake delicious cookies.
To sum up, many hours could be needed when you
use the Internet to find information. Moreover, you cannot always find accurate
information from the Internet. In this regard, I firmly believe that the
Internet is not a good way to acquire useful information for the reasons I
mentioned above.
