A thought provoking current issue concerns that universities should give the same pecuniary support not only to classes and libraries but also to students' sports and social activities. Some may assert that universities also have to finance students' sports and social activities. However, in my opinion, universities do not have to give the same financial support to students' sports and social activities.
To begin with, I think that sports and social activities which students are concerned are too diverse to support every activity. I have a pertinent example for this assertion. In the college where I study, there are a score of sports clubs which has many students. There are at least three baseball clubs, countless football clubs which compete against each other, dozens of basketball clubs, and the list goes on. This situation is same with social activity clubs. For the college authorities, it is realistically difficult to support these clubs evenly.
In addition, not every single student takes part in these clubs. Some students may think that studying in classrooms and libraries is more important than playing sports or doing social activities. If he same pecuniary support is given to sports and social activities and to classes and libraries, it can be expected that many students would have a struggle to get financial support needed to study or find difficulties with insufficient quality of school facilities, while a few students would be happy to get opulent financial support, which is perhaps sometimes even extravagant.
To sum up, I claim that colleges should not give the same financial support to sports and social activities. It is not impartial to support a certain activities while still many students need help for their continuous works.
