There are some people who might take it for
granted that stringent rules are rightful ways to lead children for success.
However, I strongly disagree with the above idea; there exist roughly two subsequent reasons to backup my perspective. First, strict rules confine kids'
creativity. Second, those strict rules might lead kids to have
self-contradictory illusion.
To begin with, strict and harsh rules will
limit the youngsters to live up their potential. To be specific, since those
rules entail many restrictions that tie up
their ability, they are aware of the negative elements toward them, which makes
them less to present their own opinions and tend to follow social trends without
deep thinking. As a result, they have a high possibility to make them to be
highly reliant to others like matured adults. Let me bring my personal experience
as an example, I have a friend, called Sally. When she was young, her parents
were frequently intervened in her schedules according to what they set to her,
such as solving ten math questions for each day, which really made her frustrated.
As time passed, she made up her mind to stand against her parents and lost the
opportunity to go to her dream university because of low marks of the math section.
To make matters worse, strict rules have a
high possibility to make children unstable. To be specific, for them, strict
rules provide a specific standard of being good children who can be extolled by
others, which might lead them to unconsciously doubt their self-worth, once
they don't satisfy the demands given for them. This implies that even though
the students get the success what parents wanted, that is not true success for
them since this success doesn't encompass what their children really long for. According
to a recent survey done by Good Education, an official organization for education
in Korea, the reporter states that 71% of students in Korea are suffered by their
existential crisis by virtue of lack of ability to follow what their parents
ask for.
In conclusion, strict rules make youngsters
to lose opportunities to develop their abilities and have a misunderstanding to
determine their own values. In this regard, I have a strong conviction that parents should not let their kids study under harsh, strict rules.
