A letter to the editor of
the Balmer Island Gazette explains accidents resulted from transportation of
moped. The author insists that reduced moped’s rental companies play a role in
decreasing the number of accident. However, the argument suffers from serious
logical flaws
To begin with, the author
assumes that the effects of enforced law in island of Seaville induce similar
effects in Balmer Island. The two regions might be different from some
characteristics such as tomographic conditions, the vehicle performances and
relative age of residents. If Balmer’ island have many dangerous barriers on
beach, moped performance is relatively poor and many young children use those,
the number of accident may be higher in spite of decreased rental company. The
argument could have been stronger if the author provides more concrete factors
such as the effects of enforced laws considering the differences between two
regions.
In addition, the author takes
it granted that reduced rental rate entails gradually decreased accidents. Even
though the moped is most useful and convenient transportation in any
transportations, people who don’t borrow moped due to the short of supplies
want to use alternative one, resulting in the emergence of other transportation
on beach. The number of accidents from other transportations might be higher
and then serious accidents such as death and bone fraction might be induced. If
the author shed lights on more concrete evidences, the argument is spurious
Lastly, the statistical
research of Seavile is poor. Even though reduced rental company effect the
number of accident, more detail information need to be supported. Reduced rental
company necessarily reflects on reduced
accidents. In other words, the number of rented mopeds might be higher in spite
of a few companies. The important causes, actual rented mopeds before and after
enforced laws should be supplied. Furthermore, the principal reasons in
accidents are analyzed and solutions for these need to be considered than
reducing the rental company. The argument could have been improved if the
author explained those above. However, the author fails to showcase any of
these.
The author explains that reduced
rental companies have a positive effect on the number of accident, however, the
argument is not persuasive, because some explanations are based on vacant
evidences. The author should provide data and analysis about difference between
Seavile and Balmer, more detailed information of Seavile and other
transportation. By adding these information, the claim would be more convincing
to readers. |
