▶ Your Answer :
Surely many of us have expressed the following sentiment, or some variation on it, during our daily school hours or commutes to school, even when we graduated from school: "My potential ability cannot be born from formal education, I'm gonna find a way of study on my own!" It is a controversial issue recently that formal education should change to allow students to improve their minds and spirits, in other words, ego and creativity. on balance, I arrive at the contention that the author's statement is derived from a misconception about the role of formal education. thus my firm belief is that, although there is some example which can convince us of the restricted performance of formal education, formal education has a very fewer correlation with restraining our minds and spirits.
Admittedly, there are well-known instances which persuade us into believing that formal education may put us into stereotyped thinking. The most famous one of the instances is Steve Jobs. His work filled with creativity, his minds, and spirits is still revered and he is considered as a pioneer of modern times. In addition, the thing that he had dropped out of university, that is to say, the final destination of formal education, make the public more enthusiastic about him and also this fact allow the public to boost their refrain about formal education. However, I argue that this phenomenon is not the proof indicating the limitation of formal education in improving the ability to display our minds and spirits but based on a convenient excuse of the people who couldn't accomplish something in formal educational circumstance, while they concede that they can improve creativity regardless of formal education. moreover, that process of thinking appears pitfall which leads us the fallacy of hasty generalization. compulsory education course that we have received is delicately invented by education experts and it is clear that the rest of the people who are considered intellectual, except for people who rebuff the formal education, has followed formal education course. therefore, I maintain that formal education would, rather than impede our creativity, serve as the foundation for embracing wisdom which helps our minds and spirits to be in full bloom.
In conclusion, I would underline that, naturally, I concede there may be other instances, which I didn't recognize, pointing out the limitation of formal education. but in this issue, it should be preceded to contemplate whether it is reasonable to accept the dichotomy: "Most of the modern pioneer dropped out the school to uncap potentiality of their minds and spirits and I feel the same way in this restricted educational circumstance, so formal education restrains my free thinking and the other not" and also we should not lose sight of the right function of formal education.
