In modern times, climate change has become a perplexing problem for
human’s survival and rise in
ocean levels is increasing at an unexpected pace. There are several issues associated with the sea level
rise and I will suggest some measures could be taken to tackle the problem. There are mainly two problems due to rising sea levels.
In fact, higher sea levels have a negative impact on people’s
residential areas near the sea. To be specific, many
coastal cities are
under threat due to land loss and flooding, so the dwellers need to find
new places to live in. For example, a small and low-lying island
called Tuvalu will become uninhabitable in the next 100 years. Another issue
is the marine ecosystem, which is affected by higher sea levels. As a
matter of fact, there are several sea creatures threatened by rising sea
temperature. This often results in massive death in fish or other marine
animals, so biodiversity could decline. In order to alleviate
these problems above, there are various steps that can be taken. Firstly,
governments and individuals try to reduce greenhouse emissions which are the
main causes of heating atmosphere on the planet. This can be done by using
renewable energies such as solar, wind and thermal power and less dependent on
fossil fuels that contain a high carbon content. Secondly, protecting the natural
environment like reducing deforestation and planting more trees can help to
stop global warming. To illustration, trees absorb carbon dioxide so
having more rainforest can reduce greenhouse gas and this will bring positive
effects on stop global warming.
In conclusion, sea
levels rise caused by global warming is one of the foremost challenges we face,
and this brings devastating effects on human habitats in coastline
and the marine ecosystem. I believe that the best way to tackle the
problems is cooperation between governments and individuals to use sustainable
energies to reduce greenhouse emissions for preventing global warming.
