Part one
Do you enjoy traveling?
- I definitely love traveling and I think my major which is tourism management, influenced me a lot. As I studied more about tourism, I was getting more into it.
Have you done much traveling?
- I don't think so even though I have traveled over five countries but the world is too big and there are still too many places that I want to explore in the rest of my life.
Do you think it's better to travel alone or with other people?
- Well, some people would say traveling alone is always the best but I'm not that kind of person.
I prefer traveling with other people because it is absolutely more safe and the most important thing is that I can share my feelings and some knowledges with other people which is pretty fun.
Where would you like to travel in the future?
- I would like to travel to America at some point because I'm kind of a big fan of American movies and dramas and music, something like that. So I was pretty much influenced by the American culture.
So that's why I want to observe the real life in America by experiencing physically.
Part two
Describe a child that you know, you should say who this child is and how often you see him or her, how old this child is, what he or she is like and explain what you feel about this child.
- Well, that's a hard question for me personally because I don't really know any children around me but there is one girl comes to my mind and she is the daughter of one of my coworkers.
But it's a shame that I can't meet her often because currently I'm a student so I cannot even see my coworkers that often.
So I think I can see her once a year whenever my coworker brings her daughter together. And as far as I know, she's just turned to 7 and she's currently studying in the primary school.
And she's kind of a super energetic person and she loves gathering with new people. And she doesn't look like a shy person at all like other kids.
And I was really impressed by her because even the first time I met her, she kept talking with me. So, I think she's pretty much confident.
So, based on my experience, I think she's going to be huge. I mean, she's so talented and confident, as I said.
So I think she's gonna be a person who performs or gives speeches in front of many people.
Part three
How much time do children spend with their parents in your country? Do you think that is enough?
- Well, I think children in Korea mostly spend like four to five hours with their parents because I think most parents in Korea, they need to work until late.
So the time that children can spend with their parents are only between the time their parents come back from their work and before they go to bed.
And, of course, I don't think it's enough for them to spend time together.
How important do you think spending time together is for the relationship between parents and children? Why?
- Well, of course, spending time with parents for children is essential because spending time with parents doesn't only mean talking to them and playing games with them, it's more like a process that they build their relationship and get close, you know. But if there's no enough time for them to spend time with, I think it's going to be hard for them to interact enough.
Have relationships between parents and children changed in recent years Why do you think that is?
- I think recently, children are more influenced by the Internet than their parents and teachers.
This phenomenon leads to a change in the relationship between children and parents because as children rely more on the Internet, they would like to spend more time with their mobile or computer, something like that. So, not like the traditional activities that the old family did. So, I think the relationship between children and parents has definitely changed a lot as technology has become more advanced.
What are the most popular free-time activities with children today?
- Well, I think the most popular activity in Korea is going to the shopping malls together because parents these days also value their own lives, not only the lives of their children.
So, I can see many parents bringing their kids to the shopping mall and then just leaving their children at the indoor playground. After leaving their children at those places, their parents will go to the coffee shops or just do some shopping at the shopping mall.
So, I think bringing children to the shopping mall is the most popular activity among families in Korea.
Do you think the free time activities children do today are good for their health? Why is that?
Well, I don't think it's really related to their health because going to the shopping mall is just a thing for children to have fun.
So it's not like doing sports, studying, or picking up some skills. It's just simply playing at the playground.
So I don't think it's really a thing that can improve children's health.
How do you think children's activities will change in the future? Will this be a positive change?
- Well, hopefully, children's activities in the future will be more positive than nowadays.
But honestly, I think the activities would be more and more limited and more independent from their parents.
So, I'm afraid it's going to be the lack of interactions between children and their parents since the internet is more influential to children than their parents.
So, children seem to rely more on the Internet. So I think the activities in the future will be changed due to that phenomenon, which is a little bit negative for a family's relationships.
