Parents are pushing their children to succeed in their life. This phenomenon became more common today than in the past and often leads to serious results. This essay will discuss why it happens and why is a problem.
One possible reason is because parents are too self centered. Some parents think that their children is part of themselves. They believe that their children’s success affects their own life. Because of this, their children are expected to be perfect and be their proud children. Whether parents themselves already live a successful life or not, they want their second half life to be also successful because of success of their children.
Some pressure of children these days is because of parents’ own anxiety. Parents have already got through a life full of overwhelming stories of unsuccessful people. They saw many bad and sad endings. These parents put their children first and want them to be successful so that their children can avoid the same ending. They believe that they can stop worrying if their children live an opposite life to the life of unsuccessful people.
Whether parents have a good or ill reason, forcing children can be a problem. Parents suggest one way of success and one definition of success. They define their children with only one name. However, as children are in a developing stage of life, they have potential to be defined in many ways. There will be more ways to succeed in their life. If their life is dependent on their parents, they will lose other chances that they can succeed and their name can be known.
In conclusion, many parents want to help and make their children successful. They want to feel good about it, but if children’s success is made by parents, children will not be able to learn something more by themselves. |
