Your Answer ▼ In terms of learning history, there are many people who have called into question that studying history is not useful at all for children. While I think that history my not really helpful for living life, history education should be taken for children. Learning in the past will be a basic conviction while living a life.
People who insist that learning history is to lavish the time for children think there has no crucial skills to live in our evolving world. First of all, Studying history is to remember former people' name, date and period. It is take for granted that it is rarely used in people's lives. They believe it is more useful for children to study science or technology which is having great impacts on our life. Secondly, history we are learning at the present is not including variety insights. It has only one majority of opinions. People in the world all have different perspectives in history. It is difficult to have useful lessons for every single person. Due to those reasons, learning important lessons from history has no practical effects on people's life so that it is not needed to learn in the past.
On the other hand, there are also people who make much of learning history. They demand that children should study history in school. Schools have a responsibility to teach students about national community. For instance, In Korea, students learn about Japanese colonial period from elementary to high school from history class. Children learn why this period happened, when it started and finally ended. From learning in the past, they are building their idea of life and their society. According to these, they can improve abilities to think and judgement.
In my perspective, Learning history may not be able to help children's real present life such as having remarkable skills to live. When children who study history become adults, However, It will become more important for them to have national consciousness where they are belong to from the beginning. That is the reason why we should not remove history from the timetable for children. Children have a right to know about their history. |
