One of the biggest problems facing the world today is poverty, which especially affects the majority of children. In fact, the increasing number of children are suffering from poverty and it brings about detrimental effects on society. Although it is problematic, it can be solved financial supports from governments.
The main effect of poverty on society is that it widens the gap between rich and poor people. To be specific, especially for children living in poverty, they have to find employment for a living as soon as possible instead of going to higher schools. Since they don’t receive any high-level of education, which guarantees high salary, they only get low-income jobs. This flow results in widening the gap between the rich and the poor severely and make more difficult to unite the whole society.
This problem can be resolved by financial supports from governments because it is a complex and huge issue which cannot be overcome by personal efforts. Governments should establish special policies related to offer financial supports to students from disadvantaged families such as scholarship or free education systems.
By supplying direct financial supports to children, they can have a chance to study further to get better jobs. For example, since the introduction of free high school education in Korea, the rate of students in poverty choosing to go to university has increased significantly, which ensure their better job opportunities.
In conclusion, poverty is one of the negative issues that prevent our society from being united. However, it can be tackled by governmental efforts to support children in poverty financially.
