The given charts show the ups and downs of sold Fairtrad-labelled coffee and bananas in five European nations in 1999 and 2004. In general, both products experienced increases in their sales from 1999 to 2004 except small number of cases.
To be specific, Fairtrade-labelled coffee showed growth in their sales among all five nations. Especially, UK’s figure surged from 1.5 million EUR to 20 million EUR in the given period. After UK, Switzerland’s figure also doubled from 3 million EUR to 6 million EUR. Other three remaining nation’s coffee sales also expanded.
With regard to Bananas, Belgium’s figure showed greatest proportion increase among five nations. The sales of Bananas in Belgium in 1999 was only 0.6 million EUR and has increased to 4 million EUR in 2004 which is more than six times bigger than the figure of 1999. In terms of the increased volume, Switzerland’s figure has increased from 15 million EUR to 47 million EUR by positioning Switzerland as biggest customer of Fairtrade-labelled Banana in the given period. However, Sweden and Denmark’s Banana sales has decreased to the almost half during the same period.
