It is true that while the average age is rising globally, birth rates are less than that. So, more and more people are concerning about emerging different issues. Even though there are some positive impact on societies and families, I would argue that this phenomenon leads to more serious results on our communities.
There are two main advantages for seniors to give their families. First of all, they can support their families emotionally. In contemporary society, working parents are sharply growing up, as a result of it, their children can not be protected from a variety of violence and crimes so an adolescence crime rate goes up. Therefore, elderly can have an important role to prevent this problems by staying and taking care of their grandchildren at home instead of double-income parents. Additionally, since jobs for the old has an upward trend, they can manage their life economically, in other words, it can reduce the burden on families who need to support to the elderly.
Despite some positive effects as I mentioned above, I believe that graying has seriously negative impacts on both individuals and societies. To begin with, in terms of individuals, an increasing old population and a decreasing birthrate cause a fall of productive workers and willingness to produce because of the burden on tax revenues which will be spent for the elderly. On top of that, when it comes to the societies, governments should spend a large amount of budget on senior pension and health insurance. And administration might lose young and specialised workers, as a result, suffer from slow economy development.
In conclusion, the population aging would not encourage young people to produce effectively in their workplace, which results economic recession around world.
