▶ Your Answer :
In this fast-changing society, how to live
life to the full has been the subject of heated debate for citizens. Certain
individuals have asserted that the ways that the old generations traditionally
lived, thought and behaved are useless for the young to gear for their contemporary
life. In my opinion, I partly agree with this argument, believing that a
certain amount of conventional ideas is necessary.
There are, to begin with, several important
reasons why traditional cultures are not always helpful for young people. The
first reason is that the world is undergoing a significant change than ever
before since technology is being dramatically developed. Thus, traditional methods
seem to be difficult to reflect on a present life. Another one is that our
society becomes liberalized departing from a conservative view, which leads
people to be more creative and energetic. As an example, in workplaces,
companies are like to require officers to provide a distinctive idea in a
meeting. This is because new items can be more recognized by the public rather
than traditional and common products. Consequently, our historically
accumulated data is unlikely to help youth to prepare for their future.
Despite these reasons, old generations’ ways
to live cannot be totally ignored because they are equipped with practical
skills. Over prolonged years, they have encountered hundreds of difficulties and
obstacles, and these experiences allows to them to develop a problem-solving skill
and an analytic thinking, which are essential qualifications in offices. Additionally,
there are certain industries necessitating skilled workers including
manufacturing, farming and a handcraft industry. For these sectors, it is absolutely
integral to inherit their tips and know-how to their descendants. Therefore, it
is undesirable to neglect the old people’s practical skills.
To recapitulate, although traditional
attitudes cannot be conducive to brighten the young’s future life all the time,
there are also a few areas that need the older generations’ aid.
