It is
a common belief that allowing police to carry a stronger and more powerful
weapon is vital. However, there is a more persuasive argument that it can be
harm to the innocent people in some ways.
On the
one hand, given that more and more severe crimes are occurring in contemporary
society, it seems acceptable that permitting police to use more powerful and
stronger weapons. Compared to the past, criminals’
methods and ways to commit unlawful crimes are being advanced toward to be more
cruel in these days. Also, some experts insist that it is necessary for police
officers to carry stronger weapons such as Taser guns to protect the innocent people
and even themselves since not only increasing number of specific and
cutting-edge weapons are emerged but also these weapons can be purchased by
criminals very easily because of the development of the Internet.
Nevertheless,
police who have such powerful weapons can be a threat to the all people in some
aspects. First, there is always a high risk that it can be used to the an innocent
person who did not commit the crime but just is suspected. In this case, the
person might be damaged seriously both physically and mentally and this may even be permanent even for
permanent. It absolutely does not make a sense to sacrifice the person to
prevent future crimes which is not occur yet and even can not be sure to occur.
Moreover, some police officers can use the weapons to show their authority. (남용이라는 표현을 넣어주시면 좋을 것 같습니다.) They might use these items to make the public obey their commands rather than
convince them to follow their instructions in a peaceful way. Most of all, it was is a common feature when there was an autocratic country in the past.
Overall,
while it is clear that permitting police to use more powerful weapons can be
unavoidable given increasing severe crimes in modern society, I firmly believe
that there are more risks than benefits of allowing them to use using the items freely.
