The charts illustrate the proportions of British students who were able to speak other languages in addition to English in 2000 and 2010. Overall during the period, bilingual students and students who can speak three languages had increased. But students who can speak French showed reducing trend.
As clearly seen from the charts, Spanish speaker increased from 30% in 2000 to 35% in 2010. For this reason, Spanish speaker students accounted for the largest portion of total students. Also students who can speak three languages include English increased between 10% in 2000 and 15% in 2010. In contrast, English only students declined twice. And French speaker students had shown declining state. German students sustained their proportion.
