The United Kingdom and Japan followed with about 24% and 22%, respectively. Although Canadian spent the most amount of money for housing than other four categories, Canada had the lowest housing share at just over 20%. Canada had the largest transportation share of all four countries at 20%, which was twice as much as the figure of Japan. However, in Japan, consumers spent approximately 23% of their total expenditure on food. The figures of the United Kingdom and Canada occupied the next-highest percentage with 20% and 15% respectively. Overall, housing was the largest component consumed in all countries in 2009 except Japan, while Japan had the highest food share among the countries compared. In addition, health care was the smallest part of expenditure in all countries except the United states.
