▶ Your Answer :
Deforestation is mainly done by human
and is one of main contributors to destroy our environment. The increase CO2
emission is directly related to deforestation in the world. As we only have one
planet to live, this should be prohibited. There are several efforts that this
issue can be addressed by.
First, reforestation policy is one of
solutions done by governments. We may find an example in China. Deforestation
had been a big problem for last decades in China. The Chinese government established
a strong policy to replant in the land. As a result, China recovered a
significant percentage of forest in its landscape and continuously encourages replanting
to prevent environmental destruction and conserve the nature. China could not
make this incredible result without such a strong government policy.
Second, some
incorrect agreements should be rectified and reviewed. For instance, Kyoto
protocol and its decision resulted in encouraging cutting trees in countries although
the ultimate goal was to preserve our environment. This international agreement
failed to reduce CO2 emission and caused deforestation in countries.
Third, local communities
which financially rely on their forest resource should be supported by government.
People in this area generally make ends meet up by cutting trees and selling
them. Without financial support and educational campaign for them,
deforestation will be kept among the areas.
To sum up, we
only have one planet and deforestation is a biggest contributor to CO2 emission
on our atmosphere and significantly linked to climate change which is our greatest
challenge in the twenty-first century. Thus, it is time to act to stop it urgently.
This cannot be done by a sole country or government. Every country should do
their share through strong policy, supporting local communities and reform or
review inappropriate protocols. |
