The tables illustrate sales of
Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five European countries which are the
UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden in 1990 and 2004.
Overall, it is apparent that the country most consumed Fairtrade-labelled
coffee is the UK and most consumed Fairtrade-labelled bananas is Switzerland over
the given period.
For the first table, the most notable feature
is that the UK’s sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee were only 1.5 million euros
in 1999, however it was dramatically increased to 20 million euros in 2004. While
Switzerland had the highest sales in 1999, and it was rose merely by 3 million
euros in 2004. The sales amount of Other countries, Denmark, Belgium and
Sweden, were shown that less than 2 million euros each in both 1999 and 2004.
For the second table, Switzerland had a lot
of Fairtrade-labelled bananas among five countries, with 15 in 1999 and 47 million
euros in 2004. On the other hand, other countries showed less consumption of Fairtrade-labelled
bananas compare to Switzerland. |
