These days many people has been living in a country that they have to speak with a foreign language for various reasons. It is commmonly said that this situation can cause serious social problems and practical problems. I agree with this idea because people who living in a foreign country can receive a disadvantages and discriminations.
First of all, from a practical perspective, foreign people can receive a disadvantages from various contract process such as a housing contract and labour contract. For example, in South Korea, housing contract is quite complicated. Of course there are several agency for a foreigner, but cost is expensive so most of foreigners doing this themselves. But if the foreigner who have a lack of language skill trying to contract themselves, there may be misunderstandings in the communication between a foreigner and a house owner. This situation could lead to legal problems which can effect a Visa of foreigners.
Secondly, from a social perspective, living in foreign country can lead to discriminations. This is because when local person who born and raised in this country and foreigners who are not familiar whith that language talk together, the local person may feel annoyed and tend to look down on them. In South Korea, there are a large number of foreign workers who came from East Asia. They have got a row deal by their boss, just because they are inarticulate in their speech. This problem occurs not only at workplace but also at restaurants and other facilities.
In conclusion, I agree whith this idea that living in country where they have to speak foreign language can cause social and practical problems. Because people who living in foreign country can be discriminated and disadvantaged beacase of their language problems.
