▶ Your Answer :
It is true that increasing traffic and various problems owing to the exessive use of gasoline have taken in many countries. Some people assert that to tackle this issue, we should rise the price of fuel energy, which already has been exploided at a global level, while others, however, argue that there are a number of solutions exsting to solve this problem. I will examine details in this essay.
First of all, it is not hard to find that many countries where the price of petrol is extremly high by government policy, thus people use public transportation as possible. With this result, many people believe that the policy can solve this problem. There is, however, a clear misleading. Japanese government, for instance, concerned growing traffic and air pollutin in 1980's, therefore, took measures to raise the fuel price. As a concequence, not only declining the sales of cars but the public transportation fares rose dramatically, which only leas to inconvenience to people. In addition, car traffic did not deline at the end. Therefore, many researches said that the policy of Japanese government was effective in only very limited part.
On the other hand, people who believe that there are another options to tackle the issue inssist that firstly, we should encourage to invent in substitutive energy. To do this, air pollution will be decreased automatically. Secondly, we can implement an effective transportation system that has been already using in Seoul, for example. The system is that when the number of date and that of the end of car plate number are matched, you cannot park your car at any public parking lots. This approach succeded in Seoul to dcrease both traffic and air pollution evidently that was proven by the research of Seoul National University in 1998. In addition, offering subsidies for passengers of public transportation can be the one solution. When you transfer from bus to train or vice versa, the fee is given a discount. By using this method, citizens think using public transport is beneficial, which leads to drop the car using.
To conclude, raising the price of petro can be one of the solution, but it brings about several inconvenicece to people and complaint for sure. Instead of that measure, we can think several options, such as supporting to develop energy sustitution, implementing an practical transportation system and providing subsidies for attracting people to use more public transport. |
