Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
The topic as to whether people these days have to many choices or not is debatable since there has been high competition in the market recently. Some people argue they have extremely a lot of options, while others are against it. This essay will discuss why it is true that people have too many choices nowadays.
First of all, as people tend to consume products of major firms, there is almost no need of existence of a variety of small companies within a same industry. If there is a firm that already got fame and popularity, other people who are trying to access certain products for the first time are likely to buy that firm’s products. For example, Korean tends to consume their mobile among Samsung, LG, and Apple. Therefore, other companies in Korea in the mobile industry are difficult to survive in the market due to monopoly of large companies, and some companies from China already withdrew.
Secondly, many people are wasting their time almost whenever they have to choose what to eat, what to drink, and where to go. These too many options even bring out small controversies between friends due to different opinions, and it delays their time of a day. Moreover, it may lead to a fight if they are children due to lack of concessions. Due to this problem, the new word ‘choosing disorder’ comes out in Korea, which is often used among adolescents. Even worse, various choices are known to bring over-consuming habits since people may strongly want to choose both goods in the market.
In conclusion, people recently have too many options because most of people make consumptions among major firms and they tend to waste time while they choose something. These show apparently the circumstances of overchoice.
