It is a commonly accepted idea that art and music should not be a mandatory subject in school. Since most of the students and parents put more weigh on academic subjects like maths, science, and language. However, I object to the idea that art and music should be an optional subject because both of the subjects are crucial for growing students fostering their creativity and it can be also an excellent tool for relieving stress.
To begin with, subjects like art and music can actually encourage students to be more creative. The majority of scientific studies describe the art-related activity can stimulate the right brain part, which is the same part that in charges of creativity. Moreover, in either art or music class, one can find their interest and talent, which can lead to their future careers. For instance, many professional artists recognize their hidden talents in the classroom and their teacher notices their extraordinary talent.
On top of that, those subjects such as art and music can relieve stress. Since students nowadays are engaged in the intense academical curriculum, it would be harsh for young students to only focus on the main subjects. When it comes to less tensed subjects involving drawing and singing, they have chances to let off steam. For example, we can see that people choose to listen and to do artworks as their hobbies because it can make your stress disappear. Many studies have proven that engaging in artistic activities is a good method of dealing with stress.
All things considered, I strongly disagree with the fact that art and music should not be mandatory subjects in school. For students' creativity and alleviating stress from an intensive curriculum, art and music should be the essential subjects in every school. |
