In today’s society, it is well-recognized fact that history has become compulsory a subject in most schools in the world. However, some people insist Science and Technology consider more efficient subjects than history. It is debatable an issue in our society. This essay will compare both views with suitable examples and give my own opinion. To begin with, history must be one of the important subjects in school. This is because delivering student about historical events and practices that happened in the past assist students to understand how their society has been shaped and cultural practices in their home country. Therefore, this is beneficial for the country to preserve historical memory and cultural heritage. For example, in my home country, the majority of the public in Korea knows major historical events that happened in the past, passing the knowledge to their grandson and daughter to preserve historical events to sustain the history of the country in the future. On the other hand, there is no doubt that teaching Science and Technology are essential to school students in terms of job opportunities in the future. This is because a great number of prestigious international companies (Google, Apple and Samsung) tend to employ candidates who studied science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), which employers consider that knowledge is desirable to develop new technological software programs in modern society. From my experiences, a few friends who have expertise in STEM subjects got a job offer before they graduated. How grateful it is. As a result, it seems clear that Science and Technology are beneficial to school students. To conclude, there are many advantages in teaching history and Science and Technology subjects in schools. It is a controversial issue in society whether which one is better or not. However, my final firm view is learning Science and Technology seems better regarding job opportunities. Although, history disciplines should be considered carefully in the way to pass our historical events and practices that generated from descendants.
