It is believed that it is economic growth that only has effects on a nation's success while there are other indicators that affect a country's prosperity such as the happiness index and the percentage of education. I believe that there are more elements to evaluate a country's success including economic development. On the one hand, a country would be able to thrive only when it would succeed in economic development. Since it is the members of society who is the resources for society to exist and grow, they play a key role in the success of the country. A country would develop its economy as its citizens would work, earn, and spend. As a result, a country and its members can benefit from each other. This is because the wealth of a country can provide support to citizens' needs as well. This would bring about the financial progress of a country. On the other hand, the happiness index and the proportion of educated citizens in a country also can contribute to the nation's success. With an increase in citizens dissatisfied with their lives, the percentage of those suffering from depression would rise. This may affect the number of people committing suicide, and thus this would result in the country having to find solutions to such issues. The country is unlikely to be successful as it would strive to deal with those kinds of problems, spending its resources on such issues, which could be spent on making the country more productive and successful. In addition to this, the more its people are educated, the more privileged a country is. This is because, with large populations of people with college degrees, society can benefit from the dedication made by them. This would result in a high proportion of employment, and profound devotions from professions highly educated. This will allow a country to succeed. In conclusion, I am convinced that there are more factors to determine a country's success in addition to economic progress. |
