Nowadays, some people assert that preserving traditional
customs and behaviours is significant in modern society because it is worth
maintaining. However, I disagree with this phenomenon and I will look into the
reasons.
To begin with, when
it comes to preserving historical customs and behaviours, the modern society
has changed a lot compared to the past It means that there is not connection
anymore between tradition and modern era. For instance, in the past, when people
expressed their appreciation to other people, they had to meet the others in
person regardless of the age, however, people these days prefer to send or
receive practical items as expression of appreciation instead of meeting
directly. This shows that the modern life has already developed a lot and no one
misses the previous ways.
Not only that, people
in contemporary society do not have interests on traditions as well as conserving
customs costs such a huge budget. Many people insist that the budget which
invests on keeping tradition should be spent on development of society. In other
words, even if the traditional behaviours and customs would be protected, people
are not interested in it at all. One of the most obvious examples is that the
Korean government invested money on construction of museum for learning and
presenting Korean traditions a few years ago. However, the museum was eventually
demolished as people rarely went to there. This illustrates that keeping
something that most people are indifferent is not worth at all.
In conclusion, the
modern society is not related to the customs as well as traditional behaviours
since not only the contemporary life has developed a lot but also the budget
which is associated with conserving tradition should invests on more practical
things than keeping tradition. |
