Your Answer ▼ There are two opposing opinions whether the government should provide services more than national defence capability or not. Some people thinks that a government's provision of defence capability and urban structure is enough. However, I think a government should guarantee other services as well.
On the one hand, one can say that giving the other services causes the waste of government's finance and leads to another form of inequality. The level that people wants, regarding education, health and other services, is totally different. Therefore, it is the waste for government, and ultimately for nations, to provide the identical services beyond defence capability. The more services are given, the more taxes are required, which makes the tax incidence's role bigger even though all citizen can gain same services from their government. Therefore, the government should refrain to give services beyonthe military and urban structure services.
On the other hand, government support for basic level of services helps people to sustain the quality living in the aspect that people can access the minimum health care or elementary education. Despite the fact of it is not the only way to improve citizen's lives, it is the role of government that to keep people living by providing minimum services. Let's take a child that can't afford elementary school as an example. She would not be able to advance forward due to her household's monetary problem. It shows how strongly a government's support determine one's life quality. Therefore, the interest of a government in all other services is not a selection, but a necessity.
In conclusion, the benefits to citizens outweigh the drawbacks when it comes to equality and it will contribute positively the overall society's quality. |
