There is less communication between family members today than in the past. Do you agree or disagree?
There is an opinion that modern people tend to spend less time to communicate with family members than the past. I personally support this statement and the reasons why I think like that will be presented in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, as the form of the family has changed from the extended family to the nuclear family, the conversation opportunities between family members are diminished. This is because the chances of communication within families are determined by the number of family members, which has shrunk due to forming a nuclear family compared to the past that a family consisted of a large number of family members. Furthermore, the decrease of family members could have people hard to find likeminded members that could lead to the topics monotonous between members. Accordingly, it could make people look for other partners who have common interests rather than talking to the family members.
On top of that, the development of the technology would deprive the conversation opportunities between families. For example, such an invention of a smartphone has enabled people to interact with other people even when they are at home that could have people less spend time with family members. In addition, developing of the various Internet platforms such as YouTube as well as Netflix has made people be willing to enjoy their own time without interacting with other family members who do not have common interests.
In conclusion, I support the statement that modern people spend less time with family members compared to the past. This is because the decrease of the family size and topics makes people hard to communicate with family members actively as well as the technology development could fulfill people's desires alternatively.
