It is a common belief that students who found careers that fit to their aptitude or that attract them should learn knowledge related to their future jobs rather than one that every students should learn. However, I firmly believe that students had better learn both mandatory subjects and knowledge associated with their chosen occupations.
To begin with, we are now living in ever-changing world. It changes day by day, so it is nearly impossible for us to predict what we would do in the future, though we have already chosen that we want to do. Recent research has shown that nearly 80% of people have jobs that do not have to do with their major or dream, which proves that there is the possibility that even though students have already decided their occupations, they can change in the future.
What's more, there is no unnecessary knowledge students learn in their school. All knowledge can be applied to their daily lives. For instance, students learn how to find the shortest route in math. This can be used when they find the shortest route from the school to their house. So, it is not good to learn only what is related to careers that students want to do.
To sum up, while it might be efficient that gaining knowledge related to their future careers, it is clear that learning only what they want can affect in a negative way. |
