The supplied table chart reveals the
information regarding changes in sales as to Fairtrade-labelled coffee and
bananas in five European nations in 1999 and 2004. As a
whole, the UK raised up the highest sales revenue both coffee and bananas
compared to other countries. The general coffee and bananas sales increased
with few exceptions in bananas, which declined in Belgium and Sweden. Considering merchandising of coffee,
Switzerland initially sold by a worth of 3 millions of euros(hereafter M)
which was the highest amount, that of the UK shows the exactly half less than
that of Switzerland. The sales of other nations depict mere around 1M. In the
next 5 years, when the sales amount of the UK significantly leaped more than
10 times than the initial revenue, that of Switzerland doubled. Other
countries’ sales sharply increased but by less than 1M. Of data
of bananas, while the sales amount in Belgium and Sweden shrunk by almost
half less in the end, other countries were generally escalated. The UK was
the largest market of Fairtrade-labelled bananas with 15M in 1999 and then
jumped to 47M in 2004; the thrice as high as that of initial sales.
Switzerland was the second-largest market; rising from 1M and to 5.5M and the
sales amount of Denmark was sevenfold in 2004 compared to that of beginning,
0.6M. |
