People
have different opinions on whether or not art and music education is optional.
Although there have been worries about forced education in art and music, I
strongly believe that it should be compusory in school curriculum especially in
modern society.
First,
students can develop creativity and sentimentalism through art and music.
Nowadays, the proportion of teenagers who spend their free time using
smartphone have been increased. It is evident that they need to do more
creative activities in their afterschool. According to a survey conducted by
Seoul National University, students who have been educated art or music from
their early age presented more higher creativity score than those who havn’t
been done. Based on the study, it can be seen that art and music education can
help students develop their creativity and thinking skills.
On
top of that, if students get a chance to learn art and music, they could enjoy
more fruitable and deep life after graduating as well. While life without art
or music can easily be less colorful and
boring, person who can appreciate the world with art work and various
music can make her life more colorful. From personal experience, I learned
history of music and violin at elementary school. Thanks to the experience,
when I went to a music concert with my friends last year, I could appreciate
the concert and understand the role of violin. As the example illustares, the
education that I was given has helped me to experience things apart away my
daily life in the deep way and to get off stress concentrating on music.
In
conclusion, classes in art and music should be mandatory to students to achieve
increased creavitiry and deep and broaden experience. |
