The charts below show
household spending patterns in two countries between 1980 and 2008.
The charts illustrate the percentage of domestic expenditure patterns (Food & drink, Utility bills, Transport and Leisure) in the UK and New Zealand in the years 1980 and 2008.
Overall, we can see that there was a big decrease for the UK’s Food & drink budget, while New Zealand recorded Food & drink and Utility bills for the ones with expenses differences. Generally speaking, the UK had a little change in the expenses it allotted to Transport, in a similar case, New Zealand had Transport and Leisure.
Looking at the charts for the UK, the proportion of Food & Drink, which had a significant change of the charts, diminished by 10 percent from 23 to 13 percent, and the rate of Leisure increased 7 percent in spending patterns between the year 1980 and 2008. However, a small variation of the pattern was Transport, which was just 1 percent decreased from the year 1980 to 2008.
As for the expenditure patterns in New Zealand, Food & drink was the biggest change (4%) between 1980 and 2008, with 29% and 25% each year. Only 1% differences from 1980 until 2008 were seen in Transport and Leisure.
