There are those who believe that the impacts
of social media services(channels) are terribly negative on both people and
communities. I agree with this statement to a certain extent.
There are many reasons why I support the idea
that social media sites adversely impact people and society. They have a
detrimental effect on the formation of rapport with others. For instance,
People can learn values, politeness, and how to treat others through social
activities through face-to-face contact. The distortion of information is one
of the major problems of social media platforms because there are unproven
facts in online media options such as news, theses, and articles. Some people like the elderly who are not as
techno-savvy as others may feel a sense of isolation since the entire
generation is used to virtual communication on the Internet.
However, I think virtual interactions are
beneficial to people’s relations because they are an easier and cheaper way to
socialize. Thanks to social media platforms, chatting with anyone in the
comfort of our homes. As long as you can access the Internet, you can converse
with anyone even strangers regardless of location and time as well. As a
result, social media users can make more personal connections with various
kinds of people. For instance, in the
virtual world, as there are entrepreneurs, politicians, and others on
Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, an individual can communicate with them and
build a close rapport.
In
conclusion, to a degree, social media channels can be positive advancement,
however, they have considerable drawbacks as well, so I advocate the idea. |
