The maps compare the information of 2 different car tunnels in 2 Australian cities. There are several significant differences between those 2 tunnels, with the size of them and the construction of them.
To begin with, they had a different building period, respectively from 1986 to 1998 for the one and from 2002 to 2006 for the other. As to the building cost, 555 million dollars was used to construct the former and the latter costed 1.1 billion dollars to be installed. The tunnel built earlier than the other has a smaller size than the latter tunnel. As to the detail, the former has a space of 2.5m vertically and 2.2km horizontally, while the latter has a space of vertical 2.5m and horizontal 3.6km. Also in terms of width, the former has a width that just 4 cars can get through side by side, while the other has a room that affords up to 6 cars. Seeing on the tunnel, the soil is respectively consisted of sand for the former and stone and clay for the latter. And on those soil, a big bridge was built for the former and, in the case of the latter, the roads and some blocks were introduced. |
