The illustrated line graph outlines the percentage change of vehicle registrations for three most used types of commercial vehicles in the US over an interval of 40 years.
As an overall trend, it is clearly apparent that although the proportion of registrations for each type of vehicle changed over time, by the end of the 40-year period, trucks still made up the largest share, followed by taxis and then buses.
In 1970, the lion share of the percentage of vehicle registration was for trucks decreasing to 30% in 1980 and after that, it had been gradually increased by 2010. The proportion of taxis registrations had a sharp improvement by 1980 and changed the trend as decreasing from approximately 35% in 1980 to around 15% in 2000, and it had been dramatically increased to around 34% in 2010, which was a similar proportion in 1980. Interestingly, the proportion of trucks registrations had been overtaken by taxis between around 1980 and 1985.
Buses stood at under 10% in 1970, which was the lowest proportion of vehicle registration among 3 categories, and steadily increased to approximately 15% in 1980. After 1980, the percentage of buses registration turned over decreasing to around 4% in 2010 which still a smaller rate than trucks or taxis.
