<Topic> Some people believe that unpaid community service
should be a compulsory part of high school programmers (for example working
for a charity, improving the neighbourhood or teaching sports to younger
children). To what extent do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. |

It has been claimed that students should contribute to the
vulnerable group in society and the service should be one of the secondary
school curriculums. However, some other people object that it is not an
adolescents’ obligation to help those people. As I completely agree with the
former statement, the supportive ideas will be discussed in this essay.
First
and foremost, I strongly believe that students these days learn how to compete with
their friends due to the way of assessment. Since the assessment system intends
to evaluate those youngsters in a comparative way, students are likely to
compete with their peers rather than cooperate with. They might learn
competition first but cooperation. Furthermore, academic subjects such as
mathematics, science, chemistry, and so forth might not have room to educate students
regarding ethics and morals. By conducting community services, young people are
able to learn how to cooperate each other and should be taught how to enhance
solidarity in society.
What
is more, when I was passing through the pandemic which was one of the most
tragic crises in human history, I realized that the communities in the world
consist of a variety of people and they fought well against the difficulties
what we had. Nonetheless, people in paucity who belong to the non-profit
community suffered from other people’s ignorant, and they were considered as a
trivial group. The reason why I could look back those people in poverty is, I
deeply consider, I used to perform the unpaid social service as an essential
subject of my senior secondary school curriculum. Hence, young people should be taught how to get along with someone or give hands to people who are in
destitution.
In condensation, although there are some arguments against non-profit society services performed by students, I am firmly convinced that by conducting the community services, teenagers can learn that we cannot live alone, and human beings are not able to survive without supporting each other. As students are considered as the future core community members, those services should be the obligation of the school curriculum. |
