The line graph provides information concerning average carbon dioxide(CO2) emission per person in the UK, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal from 1967 to 2007. Overall, the UK and Sweden showed decrease trends, while Italy and Portugal presented rise trends throughout the period.
To begin with, the UK had the highest CO2 emission during the period, though, its average carbon dioxide emission steadily decreased from around 11 metric tonnes in 1967 to roughly 9 metric tonnes in 2007. It is also notable that Sweden’s carbon emission illustrated a proliferation from 1967 to 1997, but after 1977, it dropped approximately 3 metric tonnes in 1987. It figured less than 6 metric tonnes at the end of the period.
On the other hand, Portugal showed a constant increase during the period, it started at more than 1 metric tonnes in 1967, and finished at about 7 metric tonnes in 2007. Interestingly, Sweden overcame Italy’s carbon dioxide emission in 1987, it began just 4 metric tonnes in 1967, but surpassed Italy at 7 metric tonnes in 1987, and finished less than 8 metric tonnes in 2007.
To conclude, there were huge increase trends in Italy and Portugal. However, the UK showed a decrease trend during the period, it still remained the highest carbon emission country among the four countries. |
