In this day
and age, people utilise their portable devices and computers to write more and
more than with pencils and pens. There are those who think that the traditional way
of writing letters will be gone in the future, and I agree with this statement
to a certain extent.
There are many reasons I support the opinion that touch type will replace
handwriting. The shift away from the traditional style of writing to typing
allows people to save time and increase the accuracy of writing. As portable
devices and technical gadgets such as laptops, I pad, and computers have
auto-complete words and spell check, people can shorten the time spent on
writing and grammar errors. As a result, handwriting will disappear in the
future. Take my experience. For instance, I prefer typing rather than
handwriting because cloud-based typing assistants review spelling, grammar, and
delivery mistakes in English language text instead of checking them one by one
by myself.
However, I also have many reasons to oppose the idea that the traditional
style of writing will die out. Firstly, handwriting is a basic tool in many
subjects. For example, students have to use it to do tests, take notes, and
write homework. Writing by hand has a
positive impact on minors’ cognitive functions because they memorize and learn
better through handwriting. Lastly, learning handwriting is linked to learning
to spell, basic reading, and grammar since these are the basic fundamental
requirements for any school child.
In conclusion,
to a degree, handwriting is still needed for people, however, I think that it
is likely to be replaced with touch typing and keyboard typing someday. |
