It is a common belief that it is wrong to force elementary school students to learn foreign languages. However, I firmly believe that foreign language education should be conducted as early as possible.
First of all, I believe humans naturally acquire language efficiently at an early age. Every human being unconsciously acquires language in childhood without much difficulty. However, it is not easy to learn a foreign language as an adult due to stereotypes, prejudices, brain systems, etc. This is illustrated by a lot of studies carried out in the world. For example, Harvard University in the U.S. published a study recently that human brain is optimized to acquire foreign languages by the age of 10. In addition to this finding, we can see easily that children who learned a foreign language early are superior in their ability to speaking.
On top of that, we can reduce education costs by implementing foreign language education early. To be specific, there is a tendency that the cost of education for primary school students is low, and the cost becomes higher for high school and college students. Especially in the case of a foreign language, the cost will increase exponentially, if a student is sent to another country for education. For instance, In Korea, many people invest high education costs for their children's language education. Even if it is the same English education, high school tuition fees are approximately two to three times higher than elementary school.
In conclusion, I am in favor of early education in a foreign language, even if there are some objections. As I mentioned above, there are more advantages because it is far more efficient and cheap. Therefore, it is convincing for many people to implement in their children's early age.
