As to the detail, it is evident from the chart that almost half of the population in UK went to art museums for educational purpose in 1990 and that still remained the largest category after a decade, represented representing 45 percent. Meanwhile, the percentage of people visiting to attend a special exhibit or to spend time with friends and family grew by six and five percent, respectively.

Although, the proportion of people visiting art museums to buy art was five times higher in 2000 than 1990. This figure was still tiny, at only five percent.
